Notable for being one of the hardest hit areas during Hurricane Andrew in August, 1992. At the time Country Walk was one of the few wood-framed housing developments in South Florida (as opposed to the more common and sturdier concrete block and stucco--CBS--construction). But shoddy workmanship also played a part in the devastation. Virtually every home in County Walk suffered major damage or was destroyed by Andrew.
