Originally called Border City Industries, built around 1939, was a subsidary of G.M and run by the government. During WW2, the building produced Browning machine guns.
After the war, the Sandwich, Windsor & Amherstburg railway (forerunner to Transit Windsor) purchased the building from the government from the war surplus assets and converted it into a garage facility for their buses. It was at this time the SW&A moved from their University/Elm st location.
In the early 80's, General Motors regained control of the facility.
