The Courtyard Seattle Downtown Pioneer Square is located in the heart of Seattle's vibrant historic district and is just as green as the Emerald City; the downtown Seattle hotel is an adaptive reuse of the 1904 Historic Alaska Building.

The Alaska Building was built in 1903-4 and is one of Seattle's earliest skyscrapers and the city's first steel-framed skyscraper. The building was designed cooperatively by the firms Saunders & Lawton of Seattle and Eames & Young of St. Louis, MO. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
