As a part of the Seattle's Central District, Squire Park is among the oldest residential areas in the city. This long and rich history has led to a diverse community, influenced both by the Capitol Hill and International District neighborhoods to the north and south, yet still strongly interwoven into the fabric of the Central District. In the last several years, this diversity, along with affordable housing and easy access to downtown Seattle has brought renewed interest in the neighborhood.

Squire Park’s boundaries are East Jackson Street on the south, 12th Avenue on the west, East Union Street on the north, and 23rd Avenue on the east. There are about 3,500 households in the Squire Park area. Zoning is a mixture of Single- and Multi-Family residential, Neighborhood Commercial, and Major Institution, accommodating Seattle University, Providence Medical Center, and the King County Department of Youth Services.
