Joe Ibach staked a claim for a gold mine in Glacier Bay's Reid Inlet in 1924. He and his wife Muz spent summers in Reid Inlet and retreated to this site on Lemesurier Island during the winters. They often hosted their friend, novelist Rex Beach, here.
