Fundashon Marcultura was a fisheries project based on Bonaire which began in 1987 with the support of local and Dutch Government. Intended to serve as a nursery and aquaculture farm for Conch and Shrimp for sale in the commercial market, the site also engaged in aquaculture of fresh water ornamental fish such as Tilapia and Chichilids, Tridacna Clams and Spiny Lobster.

Going operational in 1991, the site was expected to be financially self-sufficient within two years but was quickly beset with operational problems, ranging from an inability to quickly move its product to market to machinery damage from salt spray to stock contamination from poor environmental control in their tanks, the project was deep in the red by 1993. Abandoning all other programs other than Shrimp and Chichilid aquaculture thereafter, the site continued to suffer contamination problems with its livestock and was subsequently shut down in October of 1994.
