The Steele Hills are a line of several small knolls that run northwest to southeast just south of Duck Creek and four miles southeast of Spur in south central Dickens County (at 33°27' N, 100°47' W). The hills were either named for an early settler who was killed by Indians or for the toughness of the surrounding soil. The peak elevation for the hills averages 2,270 feet.
