The Michigan State Fair held its fair on these grounds in 1905 and would continue the tradition for over a century, with permanent structures eventually being built on the site. The last fair happened here in 2009 before it was closed due to low attendance and lack of funding. The land was sold in 2013, which would demolish most but not all of the structures on site.
