Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) (Bentonville, Arkansas)

USA / Arkansas / Bentonville / Bentonville, Arkansas
 school, community college

NWACC started as a dream of a community that valued education.
The first step toward that dream of having a local community college was to establish a branch campus of what was then North Arkansas Community College in Harrison in the 1970s.
In 1989, the citizens of the Bentonville and Rogers school districts voted to levy a 3-mill property tax to establish NWACC.
Prior to the millage vote, community leaders, faculty, staff, and students collected signatures of local voters on a petition to get the issue on the ballot.
With the passage of the 3-mill property tax on 15 August 1989, NWACC was able to open its doors to the first students in August, 1990. 1,200 students attended at the College’s founding.
As the community grew, so did the community’s college.
