The Red River National Wildlife Refuge was established in, 2001 and will ultimately consist of approximately 50,000 acres of US Federal lands and water along that section of the Red River between Colfax, Louisiana and Arkansas state line, a distance of approximately 120 miles (190 km). This is the Headquarters Unit in Bossier Parish.
