The monument is dedicated to general Torrijos and his colleagues, executed on the Malaga beaches on December 11, 1831. It is one of the most important and characteristic 19th century civil town monuments in Malaga. It comprises a crypt, where the General's remains were laid to rest and an elegant pedestal on a square, good-sized base that finishes in a tall pyramid.
