The church is actually one building to the west of the place marked.

In the days when redwood trees were still being actively logged a mill owner donated all the timber that could be made from one tree to a congregation in Santa Rosa. The church was once used as a Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum and is still maintained

  • Robert Ripley was a native of Santa Rosa. Now buried in the cemetery in Santa Rosa, he wrote about the Church of One Tree, where he said his mother attended church, as one of his earliest installments of "Believe It or Not!" Formerly the Baptist church, it was built in 1873 and used to be in the centre of downtown on B St. It was saved and moved to its present location when faced with removal.
