Located in UTAH. The highest and most ominous point in the area at 10,388 feet elevation (3148 meters). It can be seen from most of Lake Powell. This mountain is on Navajo tribal land and so a permit is needed for access.

  • I don't know about "ominous?" When I lived in S. Utah, it WAS the dominant feature on the landscape to the south, but I always looked at it with reverence. A definite spiritual place in the high desert.
  • Navajo Mountain, Naatsis'áán - Head of the Earth, holds cultural significance for the Navajo Nation, as it dominates the landscape of northeastern Arizona and southeastern Utah with dignity and majesty.
