Lake Powell

USA / Utah / Halls Crossing /

In my perspective, Lake Powell is one of the most beautiful man made lakes ever on this Earth. Why? Because of the red canyons, sand stones etc. This colorful rock formations added to the blue-green waters of Lake Powell. Lake Powell had the longest coastline in America, longer than US East coast and West coast combined I think. Of course, although there are positive sides of building a dam creating a lake, there are also down sides and some ancient artifacts are submerged and lost forever. Well, one thing good but another thing bad. Positive and Negative scenario indeed (part of nature). One man's treasure is another man's trash?

Lynways.

It has more coastline (1,900 mi) than the west coast, but not the east coast, about 2,500+ miles from Maine to the most southern point of Florida, not adding the Gulf coast. Sorry...

Lake Powell is an awesome vacation spot. The stars in the evening are magnificent, it gets really hot in the summer, but the water cools you down pretty quickly.

@Viktor_br: Thanks! I had to do it in phases waiting for WikiMapia to relax its polygon limits.

I agree that it is probably on eof the coolest lakes ever, but remember before it was a lake it was an unihabited and extremely remote unexplored canyon. That sounds Cool!
