This site was once the location of Autoworld, an indoor theme park operated by Six Flags (initially as "Six Flags Autoworld"). Autoworld opened in July 1984 to much fanfare but was a huge failure, closing in January 1985 and only reopening occasionally (sans Six Flags) before closing permanently in 1994. In 1997, the building was imploded shortly after the land's transfer to University of Michigan-Flint.
