'Doamnei Monastery' was founded by Princess Safta, the widow of Prince Gheorghe Stefan after 1658 but before 1677 when is attested a Slavonic inscription found on one of the painted icons. The Church Iconostasis was painted in 1747 by Andrei from Cornesti-Mures. The Monastery is dedicated to the "Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary" (September 8) and to the "Presentation of the Virgin Mary" (November 21). From 1999, the holy establishment serves as a convent for nuns.
