Residence built c. 1845 for an unknown owner, but was later occupied by Herbert L. Bodman, Sr {capitalist, financier}. Bodman served as president of the Bodman & Co. grain exporter and president of the New York Produce Exchange. He also served as mayor of the Village of Old Brookville and director of the Department of Civil Defense during WWII. By 1976, his wife Theodora had moved to 1 Gracie Square in New York City following his death in 1958.
