"The most important water mitigation project in the basin is, of course, the City’s Environmental Operations Park (EOP) where sewer water is cleaned and returned to the underground aquifer. Since the EOP opened in 2002, over 12,500 acrefeet of water have been returned to the aquifer through recharge—that’s approximately
4.1 BILLION gallons of water! And, as if that wasn’t enough, the 50 acres of wetlands
located at the EOP provide an inviting habitat for birds and wildlife, making the
1,800 square foot wildlife viewing platform a popular gathering spot for local and visiting birding enthusiasts."
