Royal residence of Queen Margrethe and Prince Consort Henrik. It was originally known as Schack's Palace after the noble family that first lived here. In 1794 it became home to Crown Prince Frederik VI, then the Regent of Denmark. King Christian IX, for whom the palace is named, lived here until his death in 1906.
