486-foot, 35-story postmodern office building completed in 1990. Designed by Fox & Fowle, it is clad in grey granite and green-tinted glass. The base is oriented along Broadway, while the upper tower is slightly angled to match the regular street grid. The main entrance is on Broadway, deeply recessed in a triple-height opening, with a wall of bronze-framed glass and two revolving doors flanked by three traditional glass doors. On either side of the entrance, the double-height ground floor has a panel of darker grey granite with a projecting flagpole. At the north end is a small storefront, and to the south are two small storefront bays and an open bay at the south end, with the floors above supported by granite piers.
Along the south facade on 52nd Street the open-air arcade continues behind the row of columns for six wide bays, each pier has a base of black polished granite. There is another entrance, also with two bronze-framed revolving doors and three regular glass doors, in the 3rd bay from the west. The 2nd bay from the west has a loading dock and service doors, and the westernmost bay has an entrance/exit to the underground parking garage.
At the upper floors of the base there are four bays of double-windows above the main entrance on Broadway. To the north are two bays of triple-windows, and to the south are two bays of triple-windows followed by another bay of double-windows and a wider end bay with bands of seven window panes. There are horizontal white stone panels below each window group, and a grid of polished granite crossing the lighter-colored rough-faced piers and spandrels. The four double-window bays above the entance, and the flanking bay on either side, extend up to the 10th floor; each successive bay at the base drops down one floor, such that at the south end bay, the base ends at the 6th floor. On the south facade, the base spans 19 bays, all with double-windows, except for the wider east end bay, which has bands of five window panes. At the five eastern bays, the base ends at the 6th floor, extending to the 8th at the middle bays, and dropping down to the 6th floor at the 2nd-from-westernmost bay, and the 4th floor at the westernmost bay. There is darker colored granite at the tops of each section.
The floors above the base have the darker-colored granite in the spandrels and the same lighter grey granite in the piers. On the east facade piers separate the four double-window middle bays, while the triple-window bays to the outside have a glass curtain wall without stone piers. Each of these bays is set back from the previous one, creating numerous corner offices per floor.
On the north and south elevations, there are three main setbacks, creating the effect of peeling back slabs from the tower. At each setback, the end bays of that section set back four floors lower than the middle bays. On the east and west elevations, the top floors consist of only the six middle bays, the others having ended at the setbacks. The four middle bays have double-height openings with black metal vents and panels concealing mechanical equipment at the top of the tower. Besides the lobby, the ground floor is occupied by Angelina Bakery, and Irving Farm coffee shop.
