Official Designation of Lower Wunna ( Nand ) Dam Irrigation Project is "Lower Wunna ( Nand ) Dam , D - 03004 " . However local and popular name is " Nand Lake / Nand Talav ". Lower Wunna ( Nand ) Dam was constructed as part of irrigation project by Government of Maharashtra in the year 1990. It is built on and impounds Nand River , Nearest city to dam is Nagpur in Nagpur District of Maharashtra . The dam is an Earth fill + Masonary Dam .The Length of dam is 2513 ( 8244.75 feet ) , while the Height of the dam above lowest foundation is 16.25 m (53.31 feet ) . Project has Ogee type of spillway with 07 Radial Type of spillway gates . Length of the spillway is 100.5 m ( 329.72 feet ). Dam's catchment area is 39.76 Thousand Hectors . Maximum / Gross storage capacity is 62.182 MCM. Live storage capacity is 53.182 MCM. Now a days almost all the water bodies make for good picnic spots. Lower Wunna ( Nand) Lake is also a popular Tourist attraction for its scenic beauty .
