Resort townlet Foros is the southernmost in the Crimea.
Many famous and outstanding people lived or visited this beautiful place. One of them russian writer Maxim Gorky (he has own dacha - Teseli) and opera singer Feodor Chaliapin. The first outer space human, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin also visited settlement. But the most greatest popularity Foros gained after the famous august coup in 1991, when the first president of the Soviet Union Mr. Mikhail Gorbachev spent three days (19, 20 and 21 August) under house arrest at a dacha Zarya.
