railway, Kettle Valley Railway (KVR), railway bridge
This was the first bridge on the former Kettle Valley Railway's Coquihalla Subdivision. The west abutment of the bridge had been undermined by the Coldwater River years ago, rendering the bridge uncrossable. The bridge was removed in 2001. On the Merritt Subdivision, which branched off just to the east of this bridge, six more railway bridges cross the Coldwater River within a 3.5-mile/5.5-km stretch. All of those bridges have had decks and railings installed for use by hikers, cyclists and horseback riders.
