Woodward & Lothrop was an iconic department store chain headquartered in Washington, DC and known affectionately by locals as "Woodies". This huge structure designed in 1897 by Henry Ives Cobb, which housed their flagship store, was converted to offices from 2003-2005. The east entrance to the Metro Center Metro Station is located in the northwest corner of the building.
