The headquarters of the U.S. Department of Labor. The building was completed in 1975 and was known as the New Labor Building until 1980 when it was named for a former Secretary of Labor. Air rights were obtained to construct the building over Interstate 395 (Center Leg Freeway) as an extension of the 3rd Street Tunnel under the National Mall. 3rd Street Northwest also passes underneath the building, along with the entry and exit ramps for the Exit 9 interchange.
