 moveable bridge, road bridge, 1982_construction

The Kantemirovsky Bridge across the Bolshaya Nevka connects Kantemirovskaya Street and Vyborgskaya Embankment (Vyborg side) with Medikov Avenue and Aptekarskaya Embankment (Aptekarsky Island). Opened in 1982, it is currently the youngest of all drawbridges in St. Petersburg.

This is a 17-span structure with a draw span in the middle, and only five spans with a total length of 198 m are located above the river (two of them are within the supports of the draw span). Two spans pass over the embankments and ten (in the form of two overpasses) are hidden in ramps. Thanks to the access ramps, the Kantemirovsky Bridge stands in second place in length among the drawbridges of the city, second only to the Alexander Nevsky Bridge.

The adjustable span is a single-wing opening system with a fixed axis of rotation, with rigidly attached counterweights. The size of the draw span in the light is 43 meters. The superstructure in cross section consists of four all-welded main beams. The bridge is divorced by means of a hydraulic drive. The control panel is located in the left bank support of the draw span. The wiring is carried out according to an application submitted two days in advance.

Permanent spans are blocked by two-span continuous prestressed metal beams of variable height. In cross section, the I-beams are united by cross beams and an orthotropic plate.

The intermediate supports are lightweight reinforced concrete on a pile base, lined with granite. The supports of the trestle part are lightweight reinforced concrete on a pile base without facing.

The railing is made according to the type of Tuchkov Bridge. It consists of square-section metal rods that create an unusual three-dimensional picture that has not been seen before in the practice of bridge construction. The author of the lattice is architect P.A. Areshev.

Massive rectangular bollards are installed at the entrance, along the upper edge of which a metal ribbon-board with the name of the bridge is placed. Granite staircases with granite parapet were built on four sides of the abutments.

Metal pyramidal masts with 12 lamps are installed on the supports of the draw span. The bridge is illuminated by 360 lamps and additionally by powerful spotlights mounted on supports.

In 1817-1821, a flatbed bridge was built on this site, which existed here for a long time.

The need for the construction of a new bridge arose in connection with the creation of an internal transport highway in this area. Construction of the ferry began in 1979 and was completed in 1982. The bridge was designed by engineers of the institute "Lengiproinzhproekt" B.N. Brudno, B.B.Levin and architect A.V. Govorkovsky. The bridge was opened on December 15, 1982.

The bridge is named after Kantemirovskaya Street, which bears its name in honor of the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War in the Voronezh region, namely, the liberation of the village and the Kantemirovka railway station from the Fascist invaders.

The artistic illumination was created in 2002.

In the dark, a bright effect is created by the tower of the television center located next to the bridge, which lights up with colored lights in the evenings.
