Main residence no longer standing. JW Harriman{banker} purchased property from Phillip Livermore{stock broker} in 1918 calling property Avondale Farms. Livermoore had called estate "Bois Joli". When Livermoore moved he built another estate also called "Bois Joli" II. Harriman had Sir Alfred Bossom redesign Livermoore's Hoppin & Koen designed Colonial into a much larger house. Original gardens for estate were planned by Beatrix Jones Farrand. Harriman had Olmsted update landscaping. Gardner's cottage still stands.
