This Northern Pacific Railroad siding was built in 1881 in the northwest quarter of section 33-138-50, Warren Township three miles northeast of Davenport, and named LEECHES. On April 10, 1887 it was renamed by Theo. Warnecke for his hometown of Warren, Minnesota, which was named for Charles H. Warren, the local railroad agent. Warren is a Teutonic name meaning game warden. The post office was established February 25, 1892 with Lewis Olsen as Postmaster. A small village developed, peaking at a population of 60 in 1920, although the post office had closed October 31, 1918 with mail to Davenport. On May 31, 1908 the Northern Pacific Railroad renamed the station SCHAIBLE, restoring the WARREN name on July 25, 1915. Only an elevator, store, and a few houses remain.
