Originally named Yakni Achukma (Goodland) by the Choctaws in 1848, it is the oldest continuously operated institution and school in the state of Oklahoma. Today, the Goodland Academy provides an individualized education program for youth in a wholesome community environment. The original church built in 1854 still stands on the campus and five WPA structures of solid rock built in 1936 are still being used to this day.
