Rajnagar Upazila (Maulvibazar district) area 338.15 sq km, is bounded by Balaganj and Fenchuganj upazilas on the north, Kamalganj upazila on the south, Kulaura upazila on the east, Maulvibazar sadar upazila on the west. Manu and Kushiyara rivers and Kawadighi Haor are notable. Tea garden 12.

Rajnagar is located at 24.5194°N 91.8667°E. It has 29305 units of house hold. Rajnagar (Town) consists of 4 mouzas. The area of the town is 8.58 sq km. It has a population of 9716; male 51.59%, female 48.41%; density of population is 1132 per sq km. Literacy rate 36.3%. Rest house 1 and community centre 1.

Rajnagar thana was established in 1845 and was turned into an upazila in 1984. The upazila consists of 8 union parishads, 142 mouzas and 255 villages.

As of 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 174,280; male 50.66%, female 49.34%. Muslim 73.85%, Hindu 25.79%, others 0.36%; ethnic nationals: Khasi (196 families).
