Guiyang

Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou Province. It is located in the south-West of China, on the eastern side of the Yungui Plateau. Guiyang is more commonly know as the "City in Forest". The city was first founded in the late thirteenth century during the Yuan Dynasty. The original name of Guiyang was Shunyuan, which meant to obey the Mongol rulers (Yuan). Also during this time it was known to be surrounded by a large amount of bamboo groves which inspired the production of the Zhu (musical instrument).
