Designed by the New York firm of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, Buffalo-Niagara International Airport's terminal building opened for service on November 3rd, 1997 following a multi-year construction that saw the aiport's existing two main terminal buildings demolished and combined into one fully modern facility.

The new 26 gate terminal has allowed increased daily flights from 94 to over 110 and allowed passenger growth to consistently exceeded the 5,000,000 annual passenger mark since 2006. Numerous shops and vendors are located throughout the terminal, with a centralized food court located near the center of the building.
