This is the replica Saturn V (5) rocket. It was built in 1999.

It was supposed to have a gantry built next to it for meetings and such, and that would have been the tallest "building" in Huntsville, but that fell through.

Saturn 1B used to be the symbol of the museum and used in all the publicity pictures, but this largest rocket has since stolen the show.

  • It had to be fake -- a real Saturn V stood vertical wouldn't have withstood tornado force winds. 8^)
  • It is a replica. The real one is on the ground nearby, seperated into the different stages.
