Morgan County is the most populous county in the Decatur Metropolitan Area, and the second most populous county in the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. Its name is in honor of General Daniel Morgan, of Virginia. As of 2008 the population was 115,959. Its county seat is Decatur, and it is a prohibition or dry county, while the City of Decatur is wet.
