This is a footpath that crosses underneath the A1(M) motorway (freeway). Why it is here is anyone's guess, because there are perfectly good road links and other routes that don't involve crossing muddy fields. The path isn't wide enough for anything other than bikes and pedestrians.

  • It'll be there because it is a public right of way. Don't be so amazed that there are such people as cyclists and pedestrians who might choose to use it!
