This appears to be the the Chinese People's Volunteers Cemetery in Hoechang County, a burial ground for Chinese soldiers killed fighting the Korean War, as part of a coalition with DPRK forces. On September 9, 2009, a Chinese delegation visiting the DPRK laid a floral wreath and held a brief memorial service at the cemetery.

  • Having recently (April 2016) visited the CPV Cemetery in Hoechang town, as part of the supposedly first Western tour group allowed to visit there, I can confirm that that is in fact the cemetery. The graves themsels are in the upper (left) end of the rectangle marked here, in a wooded area. Our guesthouse was just below the cemetery (lower right section of the photo). People here looked at us as if we had dropped from Mars, but they were also friendly once they got used to us, or, at the very least, not UNfriendly. Todd Mecklem toddmecklem@gmail.com
