Second World War 1939-1945, cemetery, 1975_construction
To those killed in the liberation struggle. Situated on a hill overlooking the city, it is home to several hundred graves.
The most important graves are located at the furthest end of the cemetery, along the big flag of red stone. The central grave entombs Kim Il Sung's late wife and Kim Jong Il's mother, Kim Jon Suk (also a former guerrilla), who died in 1949.
Kim Chaek (the first KPA Chief Commander during the Korean War, who was killed in early 1951) grave is also buried here.
