It is said that Sawatari Hot Spring's source has been naturally gushing out since approximately 800 years ago. This hot spring resort prospered in the old days as a traveling-through point for people on their way to Kusatsu Hot Spring, the most famous one in Gunma Prefecture. Those on their way back from Kusatsu Hot Spring (known as a medicinal bath for curing illnesses) who stopped by this hot spring called it the spring to bathe in after bathing in Kusatsu. Because it makes the skin smooth, it has always been hailed as a hot spring that turns your skin beautiful right after the first dip. Indeed, the water feels smooth and is very gentle. In this quiet hot spring resort are about 10 inns. Indeed, this hot spring in a rustic setting is loved by many people of all ages.
