A village located in Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture. The village has a population of approximately 4,000.

As the name indicates, the village abounds with onsen (hot springs). There are 13 individual baths called "soto-yu" (public baths). The history of hot springs in Nozawa Onsen goes back to around the 800. This area is crowded with nearly 400 inns where visitors enjoy strolling about in their yukata, an informal kimono. At the source of the spring, called Ogama, you can see local people boil eggs and vegetables in the spring waters.
