Shiobara Hot Springs is another old spa with its history dating back to 806 A.D. and is formed by a number of spring sources such as Oami, Fukuwata, Shiogama, Monzen, Kamishiobara along Houkigawa River and Motoyu, Shinyu in the mountains. Japanese inns and hotels with history and tradition gather around the Monzen and Hataori area and there are also public outdoor spas along the river. The view of the valley is especially beautiful in this area.

Location: Nasu Shiobara City, Tochigi Prefecture
Access: From JR Nasu Shiobara Station take JR Bus bound for Shiobara Onsen, get off at either Hataori Onsen (34min-ride) or final stop Shiobara Onsen Bus Terminal (55min-ride).
