Winnipeg Junction is a ghost town in section 22 of Highland Grove Township, Clay County, Minnesota. It has an estimated population of 40. The settlement was first inhabited in 1883 as Hawley Junction. It remained under that name until November, 1884, when it was renamed Winnipeg Junction. It was platted in 1885 as a railroad town on the Northern Pacific Railroad. Between 1887-1910, it had a church, three stores, three saloons, two restaurants, two hotels, a bakery, a grain elevator, a school, three livery stables, and a post office. In 1909, the railroad moved the tracks one mile north, and the community quickly died, with most of the businesses moving to Manitoba Junction to follow the railroad.
