A small coal mine recently opened by Compliance Energy Corporation. The mine operates intermittently, providing small quantities of clean coal for the cement industry in Vancouver and Seattle regions. Jameson Resources Ltd, an Australian firm, has an option to purchase the property, and hopes to open the mine to full production by 2012. There is an estimated 117 million tonnes of coal resources in the area, with promise for more. The main seam is 17 metres thick on average, and the lower seam averages half that.
