32 Shelter Rock Road was built c. 1911 as an 18-room French Renaissance estate on 6 acres of land for presumably Harold W. Davis, a CPA trained in banking, commerce and commercial law who became a pioneer in the development of derricks, cranes and other heavy construction equipment. Alterations were made in 1941 after a reported fire.

He resided here from the 1930's thru 1967, it was then purchased by real estate investor and financier Jerome J. Hoffman.
