This Albertsons is now a Kroger, but not for the reason you'd expect. According to Holcombe of Hidalgo on Flickr, Albertsons closed this store (based on context, around 2008) and sold it back to the land owner to be developed into a mixed-use complex (Albertsons below apartments). This never happened due to the recession, and instead it was sold to Kroger instead, which opened in summer 2010. Once Albertsons had caught wind of what was going on, they decided to buy an independent grocer in the area and open there.
