Herbert N. Straus Residence (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / West New York / New York City, New York / East 71st Street, 9
place with historical importance, Horace Trumbauer (architect)

Built circa 1930 by Horace Trumbauer. Herbert, with his two brothers, assumed management of RH Macy & Company after their father died on the Titanic in 1912. At least two imported 18th-century French interiors were inside the house: the Tessé Room from Paris and a circular room from Bordeaux, were later purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where they have been installed in the Wrightsman Galleries. The seven-story residence sprawls across 21,000 square feet and has five bathrooms, a two-story reception room and many bedrooms, including three three-room suites on the fourth floor.

As of 2019, the residence was owned by a Virgin Islands corporation 'Maple Inc' controlled by convicted serial sex offender, pedophile and serial child rapist Jeffrey Epstein.
