Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum was established in 1842, when Trinity Churh Wall Street's parish cemetery was running out of space for more burials. The cemetery is located on the former site of the estate of the naturalist painter John James Audubon. The cemetery is the site of the graves of Audubon, Alfred Tennyson Dickens, John Jacob Astor and other prominent citizens of the city. Trinity Cemetery is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
