Amaravathi is Mandal Head quarter (Mdl code-9 of Guntur District, AP) for the following 17 villages:Amaravathi, Attalur, Dharanikota, Didugu, Endroy, Jupudi, Karlapudi, Lingapuram, Malladi, Munugodu, Narukullapadu, Nemalikallu, Pedda madduru, Pondugala, Puttipadu, Unguturu, Vykuntapuram.
It is 32kms from Guntur,43 kms from Vijayawada & 36 kms from Namburu and Mangalagiri.
Famous budhist place.
A Museum on the Bowdha sculpture is a big attraction that tells the history of the buddisam preveiling times. Bowdha Sthupa remains are still there. A replica of this sthupa is in the musium. There is a famous temple in Amaravathi Of Lord AMARESWARA with Goddess CHAMUNDI. THE AMARESWARA LINGA THE TALLEST ONE is one among the TRILINGAS after which the langauge spoken in the state is known as TELUNGU ie. TELUGU known as the Italian of the East,and also one of the Pancha(FIVE) aramas in Andhrapradesh.In 2005 KALACHEKRA SAMMELAN, a Bowddhist celebration tookplace for 15 days and HEH. DALAILAMA camped at this Holi place and performed poojas. In commommeration of this a 150 ft height DHYANA BUDDA STATUE along with a Big dhyana mandira(Meditation Hall) is being completed.
