Site of the 50,000 ton Mesta Machine press forge built in the early 1950's as part of the US Government's Heavy Press Programme, which was intended to replicate discovered German capabilities during World War II. The press, originally owned by the government and then bought by Alcoa in 1982, broke down in 2008, but was rebuilt at a cost of $100 million dollars and is expected to last well into the 21st century.

Also on site is a second 35,000 ton press built as part of the same programme by United Engineering.
