Point Tupper Heavy Industrial Park has the largest concentration of heavy industry in Nova Scotia. Until construction of the Canso Causeway in 1955, Point Tupper was a relatively isolated place, however, the construction of the causeway gave the already deep Strait of Canso the added advantage of being ice-free.
