Chettuva has a prominent place in the colonial history of Kerala. The Dutch and the British had in turn camped here. One of the old fort of Tipu Sultan located here and government has take iniative to develop the deteriorated fort and its surroundings and develop a park and train service from main road to the fort.

Chettuva is located 25 kms from Thrissur railway station, 10 kms from Guruvayoor railway station and 75 kms from Nedumbasserry Cochin International Airport.
